The MPG-200is a standalone, real-time Digital Video Recorder/Player that records video and stereo audio in the MPEG-2 format to a Removable Hard Drive. The major advantage over tape-based VCRs is the minimal deterioration over time with no loss of quality, even after hundreds of playbacks. This makes the MPG-200 the perfect choice for continuous playback duty and an excellent alternative to high performance VCRs. Composite, S-Video and Stereo Audio inputs and outputs are standard. User selectable bit rates from 2 to 12 Megabits per second permit a choice of the desired quality level when recording. Video and Audio is organized in individual tracks for flexibility. The hand held controller has a familiar VCR-type functionality, including a Jog-Shuttle knob. Slow motion playback via the jog control is a standard feature. The MPG-200 has a play-while-recording function that allows an infinite time delay measured in frames, seconds, minutes or hours. On-air time manipulation is available to manage inappropriate visual or audio content that might otherwise make its way onto the air. This feature can also be used for time zone delays in a broadcast environment. Its web based Play List function that permits programmed playback of sequential or non-sequential tracks. The Play List information remains on the hard disk, so when the unit is powered up the Play List data can be edited or have tracks renamed. The MPG-200 features a Removable Hard Drive for ease of data transfer. The unit comes standard with a 250GB Hard Drive can hold more than 92 hours of DVD quality Video (6Mbps recording speed). Finally, the RS-232 interface and web interface facilitates flexible external control. Optional Scheduling Software allows control from a PC to playback specific tracks at predetermined times. Third party machine control and automation companies also provide standard and custom solutions. All command protocols are included in the manual, so systems integrators and end-users can write custom control software. In addition to providing standard VCR-type control functions, the RS-232/Web interface allows addressing of individual tracks, which makes it ideal for commercial insertion or video jukebox applications. Besides handling machine control functions, the ports can be connected to a PC to update the internal firmware systems of the MPG-200 machine. This enables users to take advantage of improvements or additional features by downloading the new code from our website and updating the unit's boot drive. The MPG-200 is housed in a rack mountable metal case with front and rear attachment points.
